The museum
A safari, a boardwalk, and cars back to 1916
The Assiniboia & District Museum puts Wilfred Prentice's African safari collection, vintage automobiles and a boardwalk from the town's founding year under one roof at 506 3rd Avenue West — with the Visitor Centre right inside.
Run by the Assiniboia & District Historical Society, the museum is the kind of place a whole afternoon disappears into — and since the Visitor Centre is inside, it makes the right first stop in town.

The world, hung on 3rd Avenue
Founder Bill Shurniak gathered his international collection across career postings in Hong Kong and Australia, then gave it a permanent home in Assiniboia — 8,000 square feet of gallery at 122 3rd Avenue West.

Hong Kong and Australia, brought home
The gallery pairs Shurniak's own collection with visiting artists and OSAC touring shows, just down 3rd Avenue from the Town Office. Drop in Tuesday through Saturday — and Sunday afternoons from June to October.

Regional Park
Camp, cast and tee off
The Regional Park keeps it simple: powered campsites right in town off Empire Road, nine holes inside the park, and walleye at Willows Dam, 8 km east on Highway 13.
No reservations — just show up
The campground takes no reservations: 15 electric and 2 non-electric sites, first come, first served, with the entrance off Empire Road. Register at the Aquatic Centre or call (306) 642-5620.

The park's nine-hole course plays par 36 on big bent-grass greens, with water in play on five holes. The season runs April 30 to October 15 — pro shop at (306) 642-5442.
Willows Dam, 8 km east on Highway 13, holds walleye and perch. No gas motors on the water — and when it freezes over, the ice fishing carries on.
